What this job involves: About the role

JLL Capital Markets Group - Value & Risk advisory provides risk analytics and advice across the capital stack to help our clients identify and manage risks in their real estate assets and portfolio.

Within JLL Technologies, to support business ambitions, we are developing a platform that collects data from number of sources and uses AI and data science to extract Risk analytics and insights to enable our clients make fast and optimal business decisions.

We are currently seeking a Senior Data Scientist specializing in Data Science and Machine learning to join our JLL Technologies - Risk advisory engineering team as a full-time employee. The role is responsible to design, develop, test, deploy and maintain models using machine learning and advanced data science approaches that enable various risk advisory services be it AVM, Market liquidity, Socio demographic and sustainability risks of real estate assets and analytics for client portfolios.

Ideal candidates will have a blend of data science & machine learning engineering experience, financial expertise, and an interest in real estate, and they will use this combination of skills solve a variety of needs for our value and risk advisory business teams and clients.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Product Management, Innovation team and business stakeholders to build impactful solutions to business problems.
  • Own model development of Risk Models for AVM’s, Market, Liquidity, ESG that are part of Shared component eco system leveraging data science and machine learning services.
  • Spearhead the design and development of machine learning models, with a keen eye for practical application and great intuition for its performance in production.
  • Collaborate closely with ML Engineers to design scalable systems and model architectures that enable real-time ML/AI services.
  • Articulate intricate data science concepts and findings to a varied audience, ensuring clarity for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive plan and manage projects, anticipate product integration and drive thought leadership in bringing the best ML practices from the industry.
  • Define key performance metrics that accurately reflect the value delivered to end-users.
  • Experience of Product engagement evaluation and measurement of success. For example, running AB testing to evaluate product effectiveness or using front end data to quantify the effectiveness of new features and how it changes user engagement.
  • Ability to navigate data sets of varying complexity/ambiguity and conduct analysis to derive clear insights and actionable results.
  • Perform the testing of models and assist with user acceptance testing & production implementation activities.
  • Provide on-going model and data support.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Mandatory:
    • Proven ability to deliver a data science project end-to-end including planning, data exploration, data processing, model development, evaluation, model deployment to production, and project presentation to stakeholders.
    • Expertise in predictive modelling, including both parametric (e.g. logit/probit) and non-parametric (e.g. random forest, neural net) techniques as well as wider ML techniques like clustering / random forest (desirable) and deep understanding of models eg. SVM, MRA, XGB
    • Expertise in designing and implementing MLOps pipelines on cloud solutions.
    • Expertise using popular MLOps Frameworks e.g. ML Ops using databricks.
    • Databricks – experience in development of notebooks using SQL, Python
    • SQL Server (either on-prem or Azure SQL) and experience developing very complex stored procedures
    • Proficient in Data analytics tools eg. Power BI, Tableau
    • Experience with Data science model review, run the code refactoring and optimization, containerization, deployment, versioning, and monitoring of its quality.
    • Experience with Data science models testing, validation and tests automation.
    • Awareness of continuous integration and delivery concepts/technologies
  • Advantageous:
    • Search technologies, e.g. Elasticsearch and/or Azure Search
    • GIS/mapping technologies and APIs, e.g., Mapbox, Google Maps, ArcGIS, etc
    • Eagerness to contribute to the broader scientific community via teaching, open-source contributions, blogging, publishing, organizing events

Experience & Education

  • Master’s degree (PhD advantage) in data science, computer science, mathematics, or other STEM fields
  • Must have at least 10+ years’ experience working in software / data engineering with complex ecosystem and manage complex business requirements – must have at least 3 years of experience working in data science and / or machine learning.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to effectively multitask.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile Methodologies and principles.
  • Good presentation and communication skills in English
