Senior Data Scientist (Optimization Modeling Specialist)

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join the Enterprise Data Science Team. The ideal candidate would possess profound knowledge in optimization modeling, data science, extensive industrial hands-on experience, and a strong passion for continuous growth. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced optimization models to solve complex business challenges. The role primarily focuses on schedule optimization within the corporate real estate industry, with additional responsibilities for route optimization solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Model Development: Design and develop advanced mathematical models to solve real-world optimization problems.
  • Data Integration: Collaborate with data engineers and business analysts to gather, clean, and preprocess data necessary for modeling.
  • Problem Definition: Work with stakeholders to define problem requirements, constraints, and objectives.
  • Model Implementation: Implement, test, and validate optimization models, ensuring their accuracy, robustness, and scalability.
  • Solution Deployment: Integrate optimization solutions with existing systems and operational processes.
  • Performance Analysis: Conduct comprehensive performance analysis and troubleshoot to refine and enhance models.
  • Documentation: Document methods, algorithms, and results to ensure reproducibility and transparency.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations and detailed reports.
  • Research & Development: Stay current with industry trends and advancements in optimization techniques and tools, proposing enhancements to current methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (PhD advantage) in Data Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or other STEM fields
  • 3+ years of industry experience developing and implementing optimization models using optimization tools such as IBM CPLEX, Google OR-Tools, and Gurobi.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English, demonstrating good communication skills
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Deep understanding of linear programming, integer programming, mixed-integer programming, and constraint programming.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with software development best practices, including version control (e.g., Git).
  • Advanced knowledge of machine learning packages such as pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, etc.
  • Good summarization and storytelling capabilities for data science projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the corporate real estate industry or a related field.
  • Strategic, outside-of-the-box thinker
  • Knowledge of vehicle routing problems (VRP), and experience with route optimization models.
  • Familiarity with network flow models and geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their application in optimization problems.
  • Cloud computing experience with platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Familiarity with GIS software or spatial data analysis tools.

Estimated total compensation ran for this position is:

100,000.00 – 120,000.00 USD per year

The pay range listed is a total compensation range including bonus, if applicable. The provided range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.
