Veev has developed a vertically integrated approach that involves multi-disciplinary collaboration across real estate, design, development, engineering, manufacturing, and construction.

The Role

As a Senior Buyer at Veev, you will play a crucial role in managing the procurement of materials and components required for the manufacturing of Single Family Homes. This in-person position requires a strategic thinker with excellent negotiation skills, deep industry knowledge, and a strong understanding of supply chain processes. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality materials, and contributing to the overall efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the supply chain.

Responsibilities

Procurement Strategy Development:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies that align with company goals, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply chain efficiency.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms to secure the best possible deals.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring a consistent supply of materials and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Monitor supplier performance, addressing any non-compliance with quality standards, delivery timelines, or contract terms.

Cost Management:

  • Analyze market trends and pricing fluctuations to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising on quality or delivery timelines.

Inventory Management:

  • Collaborate with the inventory management team to ensure optimal inventory levels, avoiding both overstocking and stockouts.
  • Monitor and manage lead times to ensure materials are available when needed.

Quality Assurance:

  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure all purchased materials meet the company’s quality standards.
  • Address any quality issues with suppliers promptly and work on continuous improvement plans.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain, such as supplier instability or material shortages, and develop contingency plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with other departments, including production, engineering, finance, and logistics, to ensure alignment on procurement needs and priorities.
  • Provide regular updates on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost savings.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Utilize data analytics to track purchasing performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Prepare detailed reports on procurement activities, including cost analysis, supplier performance, and savings achieved.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the construction or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing favorable terms.
  • Excellent understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and quality assurance practices.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and make informed decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in mentoring and developing team members.
  • High level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to procurement and supply chain management.

Working Conditions

  • This is an in-person position based at Veev headquarters in Hayward, CA.

Compensation

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skills, education, experience, and location is $95,000 - $110,000 annually for Hayward, CA and surrounding areas.
